  • Ultimately, your connections want to return the favor and do something good for you
  • Social media business card exchange is a very simple exercise that we all go through
  • If you shake hands with a certain personality type and they are expecting your card.  You will lose them if you don’t carry a card, because that’s the expectation for follow up and how to remember you.

So, it depends on the personality type, the people involved, if you’re new to it and you don’t know what to expect.

On branding:

Many employees don’t know who their advertising firm is or if they have a PR firm.

You’ve got to fly your own flag.

  • He talks about if you don’t manage your mix and you don’t manage your marketing to the lowest common denominator, you manage it to numbers and what’s performing for you and what’s working.
  • It’s how we present ourselves to people.
  • Being self-conscious can ruin almost any interaction.

22:08 – Paying Attention To Your Numbers

  • 90 out of a hundred people are gonna appreciate it
  • It’s a combination of engagement
  • Anybody that’s on social. now that’s not paying attention to their numbers are wasting their time
  • Not just not just connecting with people, not just social, but social as a way of driving
  • Cross pollinating in social media. Post videos from LinkedIn, Facebook and Youtube.

22:46 – Quick and Easy Facebook Engagement Hacks

  • On Facebook, it is to try to get a minimum number of pieces of engagement per post

So, it’s emoticon and a like and then a comment and then a share and people ask why a share is worth more than a comment? Why?

*Because a comment could be really a good comment then share because the share goes out to everybody they know where the comments only read by people we know in that thread.

24:16 -Great tip about those LinkedIn recommendations and how to maximize them on other platforms

26:06 -Proper promoting

  • You tell people how great you are, then it’s advertising, but if another person says how great you are, it’s the truth.
  • You have to take it on faith, especially if the testimonials are real personal
  • Your livelihood depends on people knowing it.

28:52 – The idea of promoting other people

  • If you have this the stripe that you’re generous about complimenting others, again it takes the edge off people thinking that you think you’re pompous or arrogant.
  • The “influencers” right now are pointing out we have to embrace it and be a bit self-promoting and build your brand and do so with collaboration and give others shout-outs as well.
  • We need to carve out our niche and get our slice of the world

32:31 – Four different types of personalities in the world (The Platinum Rule
by Dr. Tony Alessandra)

  • 1.Relater, 2.Socializer, 3. Thinker and 4.Director
  • The idea is that when you meet somebody if you can try to figure out who you’re talking to you can package your value proposition in a way that would be more warm to them, because that’s how you would address each of these four styles, they’re different, if you’re paying attention.
  • Trying to interface with people and try to understand who they are and what they are

So, if you’re a realtor you’re 25% and 25% of the world is more warm to you.

34:48 – Success isn’t related to your personality style, it’s related to your adaptability style.

  • You can’t change your personality style, but you can adapt it to be with other people
  • Fungible
  • It’s important not to pre-judge,
  • We all want to do business with people who are smarter than us, you don’t want to hire consultants that don’t know less than you do, right
