02:08 – LinkedIn – is the single most significant business networking tool. Most people think of it as this online resume where lots of recruiters are running around trying to grab different contacts and it’s a good place to get a job.

03:14 – What you can do in LinkedIn?

  • #1: One thing you can do is be found by the people that are looking for you – If you look into a google search on your own name, guarantee one of the top five results that show it will be your LinkedIn profile.
  • Google is going to LinkedIn first to find people
  • #2 Is being able to find the people you need to find – You’re looking for new a clients you’re doing some prospecting you’re out trying to sell and finds new opportunities LinkedIn is the ultimate people search.
  • The more content and contacts that you have around who you seek, the easier they are to find inside a LinkedIn.
  • In these advanced search feature you can look at so many different criteria you can search by name, you can search by company, you can search by industry, you can search by title, you can search by geography and that’s all the free stuff.

  • You don’t have to just connect with somebody on LinkedIn once you find them. What you could do is use LinkedIn like we used to use the yellow pages, get the answer you’re looking for pick up the phone and call the person you’re trying to meet.
  • Use the technology, use the tool, use the information to get what you seek.

* The reason people are looking at your profile is they found you right now they may have been suggested to look at you just from their homepage on their phone you might have commented on something recently either one of their friends sites but they may have been doing a search for very specific criteria your profile pulled up and if your profile pulled up and they were doing a search that means they were looking for someone to do something you say you do.

8:00  How to respond to people who are viewing your profile

  • Send them a message that you are aware they looked at your profile and how ask how you can help them
  • Be sure to view your profile every day or every few days in order to stay current on who is viewing your profile

13:25 – Things that you need to write in your profile

  • It is really important is you’ve got two things at the top at your summary and then into your experience.
  • The experience is the what you do and the summary should be the why you do it.
  • Try and write that summary from a why you do it, why you got into the work, what you love about it, what excites you, what value you can create for other people and then when you get into this the experience part, talk about the what you do.
  • We have to become bilingual – We have to talk about it in the language of our peers, right so we want to talk about SEO or SEM or PPC  but we also have to say search engine optimization and search engine marketing and pay-per-click. Therefore, you have to speak in the language of the people that are in your business around in your industry and make sure that we’re speaking the language of your industry into the language of your prospects and customers.

*Use this contact information piece, you have the ability to put your contact you can have your email, you can have a phone number, you can put your address. Then, you can put your websites and company website or blog.  You can go in and you can edit these things to say exactly what you want them to say so people know what they’re clicking instead of company website or blog so you can name it what you want to see.

23:05 – The most important thing you can do on LinkedIn is to fill out your profile the right way. The second most important thing you can do on LinkedIn is getting a habit of sharing status updates.

  • Talk about your clients, talk about the business, talk about how you’re being of service, talk about your helping and you can tag people just like in Facebook.  You can tag them by hitting the at symbol in their name and fill in and so it’s selling without selling, it is storytelling about the work that you’re doing and it’s a good way to stay top-of-mind.
  • Take 10 percent of the time that you do on Facebook and do it on LinkedIn, you will see results.
  • If you want to grow your authority,you can actually start posting on LinkedIn because it has a really powerful blog engine.
  • If your content is set up right and if one person sees it, they share it in the right spot and all of a sudden hundreds of people see.

26:24 – LinkedIn Groups – Is a great way to be with people that are similar situation. There could be an alumni group, could be a former company group on there, could be groups based on geography, they could be groups based on different technologies or different ideas. So, pick where your customers are, pick where your competitors are located so you can stay ahead and learn what’s going on. Pick where your prospects are, pick where the industry thought leaders are in and pick where you are doing business geographically .

  • A lot of people are around posting stuff in that engaging with anything you want more engagement be more engaged. Like people’s stuff, comment on people’s stuff,.  Sometimes your comment tells more  about you than what you actually post. So, keep that in mind.
  • Great way to connect with people on a more personal level and  not trying to sell them
