02:22 – The idea of things that you can do to become a paid speaker
Have you ever wanted to get paid for speaking? If so, then use these 11 valuable tips to get rich in your speaking career.
#1 – Be an expert in something
#2 – Decide that you want to get paid to speak
#3 – Start sharing your knowledge
#4 – Tell people you want to speak
#5 – Start speaking for free
#6 – Build the presentation, use that content
- You can use that knowledge for building blocks for your presentation
#7 – Let’s practice
- An interesting book about Jennifer Moss, “Unlocking Happiness At Work. The idea of “If we don’t change the paradigm of how people feel about work the quality of work isn’t going to improve.” Jennifer used to be paralyzed to do public speaking.
- Look for things that can drive you and one thing that makes you feel more comfortable every single time- is knowing what you’re gonna talk about.
#8 – Go wow them!
- Terry says, “Your information your content has to be interesting, it’s got to be relevant, thirdly, it’s got to inspire them to action.”
#9 – Ask your audience for a few things
#10 – Share the results, video or pics, social proof coming from the third party is the best…they do the video of the presentation or photo and tag you, the speaker.
#11 – Do you have a budget for speakers or what is your budget for speakers?
- If you don’t ask, if you don’t put in their mind that you’re expecting to get paid, they will not expect to pay you.
- For non-profits a good speaking fee is $250 for an hour.
So, there’s a lot of really good reasons to go speak for free, but, one of those that’s tough is- if you’re speaking for free, you’re not a paid speaker.
